Update on Our Little Hailee

The Fetching Mrs. Salem is in the hospital spending the night with our little Hailee who went back to ER today with still another fever. Tests are being run, and as soon as we know, we will let everyone know what's going on with her.

She's had a fever off and on for three weeks now.  At first, she had cold sores throughout her mouth, then on Sunday she tested positive for strep, and then, after penicillin, she still had a fever that in fact hit 102 degrees.

When I left the hospital, the fever finally broke, but Hailee still has a long way to go.  We still don't know what's causing the fevers, sleepiness, and lack of desire to eat and drink.

Adéye and I and all the kids would greatly appreciate your prayers, since Hailee could be in the hospital for days until she's better.

We love you all and are immensely grateful for your sincere, heart-felt support!

I know she is in good hands with a Mommy and Daddy that love her so very much.
Hoping the Doctors will get her to feeling better soon.

Please update us when you can.

  11. Anthony, sending lots of good thoughts your way. Have they ruled out hand-foot-mouth disease already? It's a miserable viral infection that affects small children. It's manageable, but it causes a painful rash / blisters in the mouth, on the palms of the hands, and the soles of the feet. A child with hand-foot-mouth doesn't want to eat or drink, runs a fever, and may be sleepy but fussy for 10 days - 2 weeks. We've been through it with 2 of our kids, and it definitely ranks among our least-fun parenting experiences!

Hope all is well for the lovely Hailee SOON!

  16. I'm sure the hospital has already thought of this...but it really sounded like hand foot and mouth disease with the mouth blisters and sleepiness and not wanting to eat. My kids have gotten it just in their mouth before, even though the name makes it sound like it must present in all three places. We are praying for you all!

  31. Have they thought to check for leukemia? It has a higher instance in Down Syndrome kids. My now 13 year old had it when he was 7 and he had the same ongoing fever, lack of appetite, and sickeness. It might be worth mentioning for them to check. A blood test would show the high likelihood and a bone marrow biopsy will say for sure. God bless. Your family is in my prayers.
